My speech topic is fire trucks. I chose this topic because I wanted to. When I presented my speech I felt confident. What I did well was my volume. I needed to use eye contact.
Here is my speech:
Have you ever wondered why firetrucks are important? Fire trucks are used by firefighters to put out fires or help when people are in danger. A fire truck has a pump, rescue equipment and hose reels to help them with their important jobs such as putting out fires or rescuing people.
Firstly a fire truck has a pump. A pump's job is to run water to the fire hoses. It also helps the water get from rivers, lakes, portable dams into the tank of the fire truck. The driver operates the pump with all the controls to give water to the firefighters when they call water on. Water is used to put out house fires, car fires and scrub fires.
Secondly the fire truck has rescue equipment like axes, jaws of life, chainsaws, ladder, spreaders, stretchers, first aid kit, crow bar, ceiling hook, defib, and sledge hammer. All this equipment helps firefighters rescue people in car crashes, help people in fires and assist at medicals. This is important equipment and is on the fire truck all the time.
Finally the fire truck has hose reels on it. Hose reels are used for car fires and house fires. These hoses can get pulled out quickly by the firefighters so they can start putting out the fire quickly. If firefighters get to the fire quickly it will stop it from spreading.
I believe fire trucks are important because if your house is on the fire, the fire truck has the right thing to put the fire out. If someone is trapped in a car that has crashed the truck has the right tools to get them out.
